Baseball Game

With the snow and wintery mix, aren't you just thinking how cool it would be to sit outside on a nice spring day?  Well you can!  On Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 6:35p.m., there will be an event where ROBOTICS meets BASEBALL at the Potomac Nationals stadium right.  That is right - Bats to Bots is going to be an awesome day with students, mentors, coaches and families all coming together for an awesome evening of fun!  For every $8 ticket that is sold, $4 comes back to the county's robotics program to be used to grow and expand our program into the hands of more students.  Wear your Buckland Mills shirts to show your support for our Robotics program.  Contact your teacher for the link to sign up.

Milken Educator Award Goes to Mrs. Wytovich
Milken Award Winner Wytovich
Second grade Buckland Mills Elementary teacher Angie Michelle Wytovich is the sixth PWCS educator to win the prestigious Milken Educator Award. The national recognition honors her exceptional teaching ability, dedication to her students, and leadership in her school and community. At a schoolwide assembly on March 12, Wytovich was surprised when she received the Milken Educator Award and $25,000 from Milken Family Foundation Co-Founder Michael Milken.

“Angie tailors her curriculum to each student, often involving parents through inventive means including translators and online forums. The results of this level of attention are striking,” said Milken.

“This recognition highlights Mrs. Wytovich as a national model of teaching at its best and is a tribute to her dedication and her love of her profession,” said Prince William County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Steven L. Walts. “It is teachers like Mrs. Wytovich who enable Prince William County Public Schools to strive toward Providing A World-Class Education for its students.”

The prestigious Milken Educator Award was presented to only 40 educators across the country this year. Osbourn Park High School Principal Neil Beech received the award in the 2011-12 school year and is pictured at left, along with Wytovich (center, in light blue), Milken (far right), and other Milken Award recipients.

School of Excellence
Our students have the distinction of attending a newly named PWCS School of Excellence. This is the sixth year Buckland Mills Elementary has earned the coveted title. School of Excellence is the highest recognition awarded to schools by the PWCS School Board. It signifies high levels of performance on state accreditation, Annual Measurable Objectives, and in moving toward the goals of the Division’s Strategic Plan. Congratulations parents, students, and staff for working in partnership to earn this prestigious recognition!
